The best Bacolod Chicken Inasal in the World!

Being a true blooded Bacolodian, i know Bacolod Chicken Inasal with my heart and soul. I have been eating Inasal ever since i learned how to say Namit guid. I do apologize t0 the chickens of the world but i must have eaten thousands of Inasals in my 34 years of living in this earth, with no major, major chance of giving up this inasal addiction until i breathe my last. I may be a lover of steaks but chicken inasal is truly my  true love. I have tried countless of inasals and every inasal is as different as the other. I may not know wines but i do know inasals. So what makes a good inasal for me? Let me count the ways. 1. it has to be really tasty but with just the right saltiness that when you dip it in soy sauce and calamansi, the full taste of grilled chicken comes together [genuine inasal should never be sweet! PLEASE!] 2. the chicken meat has to be juicy [but completely grilled to the very meat that sticks to the bones] 3. it has to have that inviting aroma that makes you crave for it [and for more] 4. it has to have the right amount of oil glaze on the outside 5. the chicken skin should grilled just right that it should come out golden brown 6. the size should not be too light that it comes out dry and dehydrated after grilling or too heavy that you lose the taste as you dig deeper. So many establishments serve inasals these day, a lot claiming to be the best. Some can be good. Some are salty and dry. Some are too bland. Some can be really really good too like Aida's of Manokan Country in Bacolod, Chicken Deli of Bacolod, Bacolod Chicken House and JT's Chicken Inasal. But of all the inasals i have eaten over the years, i can swear to God and to all the peoples of the world that my yaya G-An's inasal is the tastiest, the yummiest and the juiciest. Her very skill of choosing the right size of chicken thighs and legs makes the difference. Her secret marination formula & process, which takes overnight, is always consistently excellent. Too bad for you it's only available in my house for now. hehe! Later then....

Great Food Can Come from Fastfoods too! Yoshinoyalicious!

One of the many simple pleasures i enjoyed while flying to Japan every week when I was still a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines was getting to enjoy Japanese food at downtowns of Nagoya, Osaka or Narita [aside from mindless shopping at their 100 yen stores and looking at the cute Japanese guys in Anime hairstyles and Japanese girls in their out of this world outfits, or were those costumes on second thoughts?]. One of my favorite stops was Yoshinoya because their beef bowl was always on top of my to-eat list. Fast forward to 2010 after having quit flying back in 2002, i still am a big Yoshinoya fan. I remember even bringing into a movie theatre Yoshinoya's beef bowl and devouring at while watching a Harry Potter movie. Yoshinoya's menu has evolved through the years but their beef bowl remains their "genuine cuisine". You may also wanna try  their salads, range of iced teas and "shu-mais." I know it's just "fastfood" Japanese food with your Miso Soup coming out from a "vending" maching but hey, ain't Jollibee's palabok one of the best too? Later then...

McDolicious!

Drag, drag, drag to eat, eat, eat! Whoever invented McDelivery.com.ph is a genius. Large fries, Chicken McNuggets and Cheeseburger plus McFlurry in bed with my Kirbs at 1am on a weeknight is priceless.Am close to saying this is better than__  but i won't. hehe! Later then...

Dining [for a change] at Ponticello Ristorante

T'was not my first time at Ponticello but it sure felt like one because it was for dinner this time. The many times I was there it was all beers and vodkas with friends. Surprisingly, the food at Ponti is excellent.  I honestly never thought of Ponti as a dining place as i unfortunately had a different impression of it going there on Friday nights. As the looks of it shows in the pics that i took, lightness was not in the chef's vocabulary. Hey, it's Italian food totally! Indulge! Calories upon calories of dressings, cheeses and pasta sauces all summed up a heavy yet oh so delicious Italian dinner. Service was superb by the way and the ambience was purely enchanting. A Trip to Batangus [of Angus Steaks & Bangus from Batangas!]

When i think of Batangas, i think of beautiful resorts, barako coffee and Ate Vi. No kidding! haha. But now, great steaks  and juicy bangus also come to mind- thanks to Batangus Steak House along Metropolitan Ave., perpendicular to Pasong Tamo Ext. in Makati. Just a good 5 minute drive from my place. My family and i had a satisfying lunch there last Saturday. Their steaks were a stand out and so was their boneless bangus. My sister Michelle swears they also have one of the best sisigs in town. Service and ambience is nothing fancy but hey, for really good tasting steaks at a third or a quarter of the price of what you'd usually pay in fine fine restaurants, Batangus Steakhouse is worth the "trip"! God bless you this beauitiful Sunday:) Later then...

The Divine Pandan Sans Rival

I had a business meeting early afternoon today at LeBistroVert in Fraser Place. The fact that it was uniquely a sustainable foods resto was a major plus given the trend today for the love of mother earth and for healthy living.  Was i super thankful that the bistro was recommended for our meeting place because i discovered another heavenly masterpiece at the bistro who happened to be co-owned by my good friend Chef Sau who was there today and whom i have not seen for quite awhile though his masterful creations in the kitchen i cannot forget [M Cafe, Chelsea, etc].  As God would have it, I had yet another wonderful experience with every bite of  their Pandan Sans Rival which i finished, unknowingly, in like a quarter of an hour with a rich cup of brewed coffee. And i must say it was divine! Don't be green with envy. Go forth to Fraser Place, Valero St. Salcedo Village and indulge. Happy Weekend! Later then..

How Not To Lose A Pound in 90 Days

More than a handful of friends may have noticed the weight that i have gained in recent months since i quit going to FFPlus gym for reasons i would not even start writing about or i would end up in flare. After a few wardrobe changes going from size S to M and bordering at that to L over a course of six months [or less], i had to go on a diet with the hope of losing at least 3 pounds a month over 3-4 months. So 2-3 months back i find myself trying to abort eating rice at night and replacing my daily "silogs" breakfast indulgence with diet milk shakes and vegie juices. For lunch i treat myself to a cup of rice max. Hmm, it didn't look as difficult as it would be. Or so i thought. And then i start this blog with food as my favorite subject. With this new found passion on sharing my favorite javilicious foodologies to friends, i find myself enjoying eating out more than i ever did. I have gained the habit to order more than i usually would to get as much "experience" on the establishment's menu in "behalf" of my readers. And so my journey continues to this day as i scout for savory stuff that i can get my mouth on at the "expense" of my so called diet plan. I still religiously stick to my so called and self-made diet plan but with the occasional "i do deserve it and i do owe it to my blog" nights of trying restos and edible products that i have not tried or that i can't quit going back to, i now realize that losing a pound for me can be quite as challenging as knowing how to sing a note. No regrets though. God gave man the great chefs to prepare the most wonderful dishes and who am i to not appreciate God's creations; like these great feast of Filipino dishes i had last night at The Red Crab: a giant and oh so juicy crab in butter ginger, deep fried tilapia with coconut sauce, seafood tortang talong with aligue and clams in ginger soup. And Starbuck's new Creme Brulee Macchiatto and Coffee Bean's warm Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert. I guess what i had just last night says it all. hehe. Later then...
